PSG Marine & Logistics completed a turnkey heavy lift and transport solution for NTG Projects at Invergordon Service Base.
The project involved the load-out of a 100-tonne CTU. PSG handled lifting design, specialist transport within the service base, and quayside stevedoring.
PSG used a six-month planning period to prepare the full load-out operation. The work required an engineered solution before the CTU could be moved to the load-out quay.
The CTU’s integrated lifting system was no longer operational. PSG created a new lifting arrangement for the project.

The project required a complete heavy lift and transport solution. PSG had to plan the lift, transport, and quayside stages as one controlled operation.
The 100-tonne CTU needed structural assessment before the load-out could proceed. Its integrated lifting system could no longer be used.
PSG also had to design and fabricate a compliant lifting solution. This was required before the unit could be handled for the load-out.
Vessel arrival times could change. PSG needed a plan that could respond to the vessel schedule.
The project required:
PSG worked closely with NTG Projects to create a safe and feasible lifting arrangement.
The engineering review focused on three areas:
The agreed solution involved four 55-tonne pad eyes. These were welded to the CTU structure.
Scaffolding was erected for safe access. PSG then managed controlled welding and full compliance load testing.
PSG coordinated the local supply chain at each stage. Each part of the work followed the required standards and schedule.
PSG moved the CTU from its laydown position to the load-out quay.
For this stage, PSG mobilised:
PSG’s in-house operators carried out the move. Detailed engineering planning controlled the transport stage.
The transport arrangement helped PSG respond when vessel schedules changed. It also reduced the risk of costly delay during the load-out phase.
At the quayside, PSG managed the full hook-up operation to the vessel’s geared crane.
The team used a Terex RT45 with a man basket. This supported safe working at height during the rigging operation.
PSG used two working teams in parallel:
This working structure kept the hook-up process within the vessel’s operational window.
PSG completed a fully engineered and compliant lifting solution for the 100-tonne CTU load-out.
The heavy transport stage moved the unit from its laydown position to the load-out quay. PSG also managed the hook-up operation to the vessel’s geared crane.
The project brought lifting design, specialist transport, and quayside stevedoring into one turnkey package for NTG Projects.
